WASHINGTON IN THE OHIO COUNTRY & BRADDOCK
Two Plays
by Rennick Steele

George Washington, the father of our country, learned some hard lessons on the Western Pennsylvania frontier: the fact that he was an American, not an Englishman, mobility and surprise were the key to victory in the dense forests of North America, rigid tactics and fighting from files in the European manner were a recipe for disaster. Thus, General Edward Braddock’s British regulars met with utter defeat at the hands of the French and Indians near the banks of the Monongahela River near present day Pittsburgh.
